Michigan Renaissance Festival

In mid-September, we decided to go to the Michigan Renaissance Festival with our friends and neighbors, the Krause family.  They go every year and we hadn't been yet since moving to Michigan, though I'd been the the one outside of Pittsburgh growing up.  Since there's only one for the entire state, it was quite large, and we knew to get there as soon as it opened.  It was a little over an hour drive north from where we live and we spent a good part of the day there.  As we were leaving in mid-afternoon, the line of cars just to get into the parking lot stretched for miles leading back to the highway.

 The jousting show.  We sat on the benches waiting for 45 min before the show started so we would have seats and there was a lot of talking and joking and not much action, so my kids lost interest quickly.

Kids Safety Day

Last week the local emergency room held a safety day for kids of the community.  We knew Brady would love it, so we headed over for a fun afternoon.  They provided lunch and all of the activities.  We spent about two hours there.

The police handed out badges to the kids and had child identification packets for parents to fill out.

Brady couldn't wait to get inside the school bus.  He sees it every day and will love when he gets to ride to school in it.

He must have the cool kid genes because he headed right for the very back seat.

They had the K9 unit there and Brady fell in love with Rocky the dog.  He even said to the police officer, "You have a beautiful dog."

Second week in a row for face painting.  This time he got Angry Birds and made sure that the artist made him pink.

 This bunny was hilarious and was dancing all the moves to Gangnam Style.  Poor Scruff McGuff didn't quite know the moves.

 At the end, he had fun rolling down this little slope with his friends, Sophia, Emma, and Ella.
